That's in Carazo, Spain, near Salas de los Infantes. It's North of Madrid which is good to know because I'm going to fly to spain, rent a car and drive up there. I say 'I' but I can't drive so my friend (mentioned in the last post) will be doing the driving. But once we get there I'm going to take photos of every last inch of that place. I want to have every last texture I could possibly need. It will be awesome to create the in game cemetery with textures from the real one.
I know this will be primarily a character project but I don't want it to fall down by placing them in a crap scene hence the research.
To research the characters I'm going to dig around the internet and attempt to buy the outfits or similar clothes so that I can get textures from them and secondly so I can dress someone up to study how the fabric folds and falls.
Lastly in terms of the characters faces I intend to do lots and lots of drawings of them to study and understand them. Once I can knock out a casual speedpaint in under an hour and get the likeness I think I'll be ready to sculpt them. Additionally I've thought about visiting Maddame Tussauds in London to see if they have at least Clint Eastwood there. If they do that's some good facial reference!
I think the second semester will be more than enough time to make the 3 characters and a section of the graveyard scene. I'll spend this term gathering as much research as possible and practising drawing/painting the characters and the scene. There's not much scope for actual design here but good orthographic drawings will really help with the modelling. Also it will be useful to concept my section of the graveyard.
Here's a pencil sketch/digi-paint of Eli Wallach. I really enjoyed this one but the likeness isn't quite there! More facial studying to be done!
